Data Collection

Nourish Quest collects the following categories of data:

Account data: Name and email address, collected at registration to provide personalization and account access.
Health & wellness data: Nutrition logs, fitness records, medical condition trackers, biometric entries, and other health information you voluntarily enter.
Location data: Processed in real-time only when you request local restaurant results. Not stored permanently on our servers.
Device & usage data: App usage patterns, crash reports, and device identifiers used to improve app performance.
Advertising identifiers: Collected by Google AdSense for ad serving. You may opt out via your device settings.

We collect only what is necessary to provide the app's features. We do not collect data in the background beyond what is described above.

Cookies & Storage

We use local storage and cookies to maintain your login session and save your preferences (such as diet type and calorie goals).

Google AdSense: Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to our website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to our sites and/or other sites on the Internet. Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

Health Data

Health and wellness data you enter (nutrition logs, fitness records, medical condition trackers, etc.) is stored securely and is only accessible to you. We do not share your personal health data with third parties, advertisers, or data brokers.

AI features process anonymized prompts for suggestions — we do not transmit personally identifiable health records to AI providers.

📋 Sensitive Permissions Disclosure

This app requests the following device permissions. Each is used solely for the purpose described below and is never used for any other reason:

Camera: Used only to scan barcodes on food packaging and to analyze food photos for nutritional information. Camera access is requested only when you initiate a scan or photo log — it is never accessed in the background.
Location (Coarse/Fine): Used only to find nearby restaurants and food places in the Dining/Explore tab. Location is processed in real-time only when you request local results and is never stored on our servers or shared with third parties without your consent.
Internet Access: Required for all core app functionality including data syncing, AI features, and loading content.
Notifications: Used to deliver optional wellness reminders (hydration, movement, pantry expiration). You can disable all notification types in Profile → Notification Settings at any time.
Storage / Media: Used only to read or save images you choose to attach to health logs or medication records. We do not access your photos library without explicit user action.

We do not access any permission beyond its stated purpose. No permissions are used for advertising targeting, background tracking, or sharing with data brokers.

🔒 Sensitive & Personal Health Data

This app allows you to voluntarily enter sensitive personal health information including but not limited to: medical conditions, medications, menstrual cycle data, pregnancy status, mental health records, substance use, and biometric data.

All health data you enter is stored securely and is protected by strict Row-Level Security (RLS) ensuring it is accessible only to you.
We do not sell, rent, share, or disclose your personal health data to any third party, advertiser, insurer, or employer.
AI features receive anonymized, non-identifiable text prompts only. Your full health profile is never transmitted to AI providers.
Health data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
You may delete all health data at any time via the in-app delete functions or by deleting your account.

Security & Payments

Your financial security is our top priority. We do not store your full credit card number or sensitive payment details on our servers.

All payment processing is handled by secure, PCI-compliant third-party payment processors. Your transaction data is encrypted and protected using industry-standard security protocols.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Nourish Quest respects your right to privacy. We do not sell your personal information to third parties for monetary consideration.

You have the right to opt-out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. You can exercise this right at any time by enabling the "Do Not Sell My Info" option in your Profile settings.

Assumption of Risk

By accessing and using Nourish Quest, you acknowledge and expressly assume all risks associated with the use of health, fitness, and nutrition tracking features provided by this application.

You understand that physical activity, dietary changes, and health monitoring carry inherent risks, and you voluntarily participate at your own risk. Nourish Quest LLC and its affiliates shall not be held liable for any injuries, health complications, or adverse outcomes arising from your use of this app.

You agree to hold harmless and indemnify Nourish Quest LLC from any claims, damages, or losses resulting from your reliance on app-generated content, recommendations, or features.

No Guarantees or Warranties

Nourish Quest LLC provides this application and all related content, features, and services on an "as is" and "as available" basis without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

We make no representations or warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or suitability of any information, recommendations, or results obtained through this app. Individual results may vary significantly.

We expressly disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Your use of this app is at your sole risk.

Waiver of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Nourish Quest LLC, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates hereby disclaim and waive all liability for any claims, damages, losses, or injuries arising from your use of this application.

You expressly waive any right to pursue legal action against Nourish Quest LLC for direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to personal injury, illness, property damage, emotional distress, or economic loss resulting from your reliance on or use of app features, content, or recommendations.

By continuing to use this app, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to this waiver of liability, and that you are using the app voluntarily with full knowledge of the potential risks involved.

Use Your Personal Judgment

All information, recommendations, and suggestions provided through Nourish Quest are intended for general informational and educational purposes only. They are not a substitute for professional medical, nutritional, or fitness advice.

You are solely and exclusively responsible for evaluating the information provided and exercising your own independent judgment before making any health-related decisions. Do not disregard, avoid, or delay obtaining professional medical advice because of content accessed through this app.

Always consult with qualified healthcare professionals regarding any questions or concerns about your health, diet, exercise program, or medical conditions. Your healthcare provider knows your individual circumstances and can provide personalized guidance.

Contextual Use Only

All features, recommendations, and content provided by Nourish Quest are generic in nature and are not customized or tailored to your individual medical history, health conditions, physical limitations, allergies, or personal circumstances.

You must independently assess whether any recommendation, workout routine, meal plan, or health tracking feature is appropriate and safe for your unique situation. Consider factors such as pre-existing conditions, medications, injuries, pregnancy status, age, and fitness level.

What may be beneficial or appropriate for one user may be harmful or unsuitable for another. The app cannot and does not account for your individual context, and you bear full responsibility for adapting or disregarding any content based on your personal needs and circumstances.

🗑️ Data Deletion & Account Removal

You have the right to request deletion of all personal data associated with your Nourish Quest account at any time. Google Play requires us to provide an in-app deletion path — we do.

How to delete your account & data:

In-app (primary method): Go to Security → Delete My Account Permanently. This permanently deletes your account and all associated data immediately. This is the recommended and fastest method.
Via email (alternative): Email support@nourishquest.app with the subject line "Account Deletion Request." We will permanently delete your account and all stored data within 30 days of receiving your verified request.
What gets deleted: All health logs, meal plans, tracker entries, saved places, profile data, preferences, and any personally identifiable information linked to your account.
What may be retained: Anonymized, non-identifiable aggregate usage statistics (not linked to your identity) may be retained for app improvement. Payment transaction records may be retained as required by applicable law.
Data retention: Active account data is retained for as long as your account exists. Upon deletion, personal data is removed within 30 days. Backups are purged within 90 days.

⚠️ Deletion is permanent and irreversible. Please save any data you wish to keep before deleting.

📱 Hardware & Device Requirements

Nourish Quest requires a smartphone or tablet with an active internet connection to function. This app does not operate independently of an external device.

All features depend on your device's hardware, operating system, and network connectivity.
Camera-dependent features (barcode scanning, food photo analysis) require a device with a camera.
Location features require a device with GPS/location services enabled.
Push notifications require device notification permissions to be granted.
This app is not a standalone medical device and is not intended to replace dedicated medical hardware or equipment.

📢 Advertising Disclosure

This app displays advertisements served by Google AdSense.

Ads in this app are non-personalized by default. Advertising identifiers are shared with our ad partner solely for frequency capping, fraud prevention, and basic ad delivery — not for building a profile of your interests or targeting you based on personal or health data.
We strictly prohibit the use of sensitive personal data (health, medical, biometric, or demographic categories) for ad targeting. See the "Sensitive Data & Advertising" section below.
Google and its partners may still use cookies for ad delivery and measurement. You may manage your ad preferences at Google Ads Settings.
You can opt out of interest-based advertising from third-party vendors at www.aboutads.info, or via your device's ad settings (Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization).

Third-Party SDKs & Services

This app integrates the following third-party services which may collect data under their own privacy policies:

Base44 — Authentication, database hosting, and AI processing
Google AdSense — Advertising (may use cookies and device identifiers for non-personalized ad delivery)
AI LLM providers (e.g., Google Gemini, OpenAI) — AI-powered nutrition and health suggestions (anonymized text prompts only; no personally identifiable health data is shared)

We do not sell your personal data to any of these services. Each service operates under its own privacy policy.

Children's Privacy

Nourish Quest is intended for users 13 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at support@nourishquest.app so we can delete it.

Some tracker features (Infant, Toddler, Teen) are designed to be used by parents or guardians on behalf of their children and do not require children to create accounts.

Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA / Global)

Access: You can view all data stored in your account within the app at any time.
Correction: You can update your profile and health data at any time via Profile → Edit Profile.
Deletion: Delete your account and all data from Security → Delete My Account Permanently or by emailing support@nourishquest.app.
Data Portability: You may request a copy of your personal data by emailing support@nourishquest.app. We will provide it in a machine-readable format within 30 days.
Opt-out of data sale/sharing: Enable "Do Not Sell My Info" in Profile → Privacy settings. We do not sell your data regardless.
Opt-out of personalized ads: Visit adssettings.google.com or your device's ad settings (Android: Settings → Google → Ads).
Withdraw consent: You may withdraw consent for data processing at any time by deleting your account. Withdrawal does not affect lawfulness of prior processing.
Lodge a complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

🚫 Sensitive Data & Advertising

We strictly prohibit the use of sensitive personal data for advertising targeting. Specifically:

Health data, medical conditions, and biometric information you enter are never used for ad targeting.
Sensitive categories (mental health, substance use, pregnancy, menstrual data, cancer/chronic illness) are never shared with advertisers.
Google AdSense ads are served based on general app context only — not your personal health profile.
We do not build or sell advertising audience segments from health data.

💳 Payments & Google Play Billing

This app does not use Google Play in-app billing or in-app purchases. No digital content or app features are sold or gated behind payment.

The app offers an optional voluntary contribution (via Stripe or PayPal) that funds offline physical farming activities and community programs — not digital app features. Because these contributions are for physical, real-world initiatives and do not unlock any in-app functionality, they are processed outside of Google Play Billing in accordance with Google Play's Payments policy.

Payment processing is handled by PCI-compliant third-party processors (Stripe, PayPal). We do not store your full credit card number or banking details on our servers. The processor receives your payment information directly; we only receive confirmation of the transaction.
